EV charge point operator Zapgo has opened a new ultra-rapid charging site at Klondyke Garden Centre in Livingston, West Lothian. Zapgo’s new site brings high-speed electric vehicle charging to a well-connected location in Scotland’s central belt.
The charging site features 2 charging bays served by an ultra-rapid 200kW charger, allowing EV drivers to add significant range within minutes.
Visitors to the site will be able to benefit from the impressive range of amenities available at Klondyke Garden Centre, Livingston, including the garden shop, outdoor plant area and Topiary Coffee Shop, which offers everything from breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and special events.
The site is located just 3 minutes from the A71, providing a welcome place to recharge for the estimated 7.5-9.5 million drivers travelling between Edinburgh and Ayrshire each year.
The latest figures show that the area around Livingston has been historically underserved by charging infrastructure, with just 0.02 public chargers per electric vehicle, while EV adoption is rising within the area, with 5.1% of all vehicles now EVs.
To mark the launch, Zapgo is offering drivers an introductory price of 50p per kWh at the site for the first two weeks from Monday 5 October until Monday 19 October.
David Abbot, CEO of Klondyke Group, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Zapgo to provide ultra-rapid EV charging. As more local residents and visitors make the switch to electric vehicles, we’re pleased to be able to provide an important piece of infrastructure that supports that change. It’s also a great fit for us as the local garden centre; giving customers the convenience of charging while they shop, enjoy a coffee or simply spend some time with us.”
