As eight runners rest their tired feet, the Greenfingers Charity is taking a moment to thank them for their incredible act of endurance and generosity on behalf of the charity at this year’s London Landmarks Half Marathon (LLHM), held on 6th April 2025.
Now in its eleventh year, the LLHM continues to captivate runners and spectators alike by taking in some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks, from Big Ben and the London Eye to Downing Street and the world’s smallest police station – alongside quirky hidden gems like Guy Fawkes’ house and the city’s largest grasshopper. With over 20,000 runners taking part this year, it marked the largest LLHM to date.
Amongst the sea of runners were eight remarkable individuals who took on the challenge to raise vital funds for the Greenfingers Charity, which creates inspiring gardens for children in hospices across the UK.
From Poplars Garden Centre, Jack Goodhand turned heads and brought smiles as he ran the full 13.1 miles dressed as a flowerpot, finishing in an impressive time of 01:50:23 and raising £1,052.50, plus several hundred pounds in cash donations.
Representing SBM Life Science, Mial Walker and Claire Walker completed the course together in 02:04:19, while Kate Richardson crossed the finish line in 01:55:21. The star of the SBM team, Adam Parke, achieved a phenomenal 01:18:25, placing 60th overall out of 23,952 participants. Collectively, the SBM team raised a fantastic £3,471.02 for the charity.
From Evergreen Garden Care, three brilliant runners took part: Debbie Collins who chalked up a finish time of 02:52:43, James Davies with a time of 01:44:14, and Colin Stephens, completing the course in 01:40:06. Their combined efforts raised a superb £4,186.75, with Colin alone generating £3,218.75 in support of Greenfingers.
Speaking of their efforts, Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Greenfingers Charity, said: “We are incredibly proud of all eight runners who took part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on behalf of Greenfingers Charity. Each of them showed enormous dedication, enthusiasm and generosity, not only training for and completing the race but also raising vital funds that will help us to create more magical gardens for children with life-limiting conditions. The flowerpot costume was a real crowd-pleaser, and we hope might be the first of many such costumes we see running for Greenfingers in the future! Thank you to every one of our runners – your support means the world.”
